Selah Soul is the music-making name of Wendy Merritt, created from a lifelong love of Jesus, Scripture, worship, and the rich sound of black gospel music.

Wendy was born in Kenitra, Morocco, Africa, and from an early age, music had a way of reaching places in her heart that ordinary words could not. She has always loved singing, worship, and the power of a song to help Scripture settle deep into the soul.

While Wendy can sing, Selah Soul gives her a way to express the music she hears inside her with the polish, fullness, and professional sound of a recording artist. The vocals are created using Wendy’s own voice as part of the AI-assisted singing process, allowing her real vocal sound to become part of the finished music in a bigger, more produced way.

Selah Soul is not meant to trick anyone or pretend to be a separate person. Selah Soul is Wendy’s pseudonym for her Scripture song project. With the accessibility of AI music creation, Wendy is now able to use her voice, creativity, lyrics, Scripture inspiration, and musical direction to create songs that share her love for Jesus with the world.

The image of Selah Soul was also created using a picture of Wendy as the starting point. It is an artistic representation of the music-making part of her heart, not a separate person. In Wendy’s life, naming meaningful things is nothing new. Her hair even has a name: Delilah. Her cars have names too. So when this part of her heart began to take shape through worship music, Scripture songs, gospel sounds, and AI-assisted music creation, she gave it a name too: Selah Soul.
