And who I was without Your grace.

Righteous words, holy code—
But it couldn’t break these chains I wore.
I needed more than what I knew,
I needed You to open the door.

But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—
The free life!—even out of the corner of his eye,
And sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain
But a man or woman of action.
That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.

But then the gospel lit a flame,
And the Spirit breathed on broken ground.
Your power didn’t just forgive,
It turned this life completely around.

No more trying in my strength,
Now I move in mercy’s might.
What the law revealed, grace redeemed,
And love rewrote my fight.
